Job Description

The Mt. Abraham Unified School district is seeking a Mentor Coordinator to join our team at Mt. Abraham Union Middle/High School. The Mentor Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the student mentoring Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Support elementary program coordinators in implementing mentor recruitment screening orientation and training following Quality Mentoring Standards Manage background checks driving record checks and reference checks for mentors. Maintain confidential files on mentees and mentors mentee families Maintain database of contacts mentees and matches Support and supervise Middle School and High School mentees and mentors Facilitate community based mentoring experiences via newsletters and offerings Cultivating relationships and open communication with student mentees Communicate with mentee families as needed Facilitate mentee involvement in planning group events and service opportunities for mentormentee group (MS and / or HS together or separately) Oversee purchasing facility reservations planning transportation necessary for group events. Oversee adherence to mentoring program policies and procedures Coordinate mentor recognition Oversee program implementation and evaluation Respond to potential mentor volunteers at the middle and high school level Work with school staff when a student has been identified as being in need of a mentor to recruit appropriate volunteer based on shared interest skill or interest Communicate with community (press releases Front Porch Forum) Conduct yearly program evaluation and utilize results to improve program quality and effectiveness Maintain and monitor weekly mentee/mentor contact Develop and manage relationships with schools human service organizations and community based groups for mentee referrals. Collaborate with the building principal and Mentoring Advisory Board to promote the mentoring program. Coordinate with Mentor VT for additional support ideas and collaboration. Develop a mentoring brochure to promote the program within the school and community Maintain mentoring webpage Plan and implement mentor training (evening event early Fall) Plan and implement mentor/family events (minimum 3 events) Participate in three mentoring advisory board meetings Plan and collaborate with other district mentoring coordinators to foster a strong program that continues for students when they attend Mt. Abe. Attend regional mentoring training Must be available as needed during the academic school year and day. Other duties as assignedThe starting salary is $25.00 per hour and may increase based on experience in accordance with the NonUnion Support Staff Agreement.
