What We Are Looking For

Baylor University is seeking Medical Records Administrator to maintain medical records of clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical administrative ethical legal and regulatory requirements of a college healthcare system. This position is critical to ensure all records maintained and released are both HIPAA and FERPA compliant.

A high school diploma and two years of relevant work experience are required. An Associates degree and five years of relevant work experience are preferred.

*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a fulltime basis.

What You Will Do

  • Processes health forms for all incoming students
  • Ensure that all information is accurate and compliant with state and university requirements
  • Scan/upload health forms and immunization records into the electronic medical record
  • Enters pertinent dates and information into various data bases to assist with the registration process
  • Process requests for medical information from outside hospitals clinics and physicians
  • Respond to requests from outside sources requesting records including court orders requests by attorneys disability and insurance companies and former patients
  • Responsible for faxing filing or scanning
  • Maintaining and accurately monitoring for all medical records information
  • Monitoring the health services electronic fax and email accounts to assign correspondence to appropriate personnel
  • Review records for completeness accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Retrieve patient medical records for followup appointments in a timely manner
  • Monitor the schedule for potential followups from other facilities to ensure records have been received and are available in the patients chart
  • Support front desk staff by answering phone calls scheduling/rescheduling appointments and working as relief at front desk during lunches and staff shortages
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
