INTERNAL JOB POSTING
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Students and as an integral member of the Student Life Team the FullTime Director of Housing and Residence Life is responsible for the overall vision strategic planning management and operation of the residential experience. This includes administrative budgetary facilities and programmatic oversight to ensure the development of vibrant inclusive and supportive residential communities. The Director provides innovative leadership to enhance student engagement academic success personal development and community wellbeing. This is a fulltime 12month liveon position with oncall duty responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Housing and Residence Life Leadership (60%)
- Develop and execute strategic goals and initiatives aligned with institutional priorities and the mission of Student Life.
- Foster an inclusive and engaging residential environment that supports academic success personal growth and community building.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a residential curriculum that integrates student development theory and learning outcomes.
- Monitor occupancy retention and attrition data for residential students; provide regular reports and analysis to campus stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Students to develop and manage housing budgets including forecasting and financial planning.
- Lead the creation and dissemination of all housingrelated publications training manuals web content and other materials.
- Oversee the selection training and evaluation of Resident Assistants Graduate Assistant Hall Directors and other staff to support the residential community.
- Partner with academic departments and campus stakeholders to develop and support livinglearning communities specialinterest housing and academic engagement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive policies procedures and standards to ensure the safety wellbeing and satisfaction of residential students.
- Manage housing assignments room changes and appeals processes in collaboration with the Associate Director for Administration and Operations.
- Participate in the planning design and renovation of residence halls in alignment with the institutions master plan.
- Provide leadership and crisis management during oncall rotations ensuring timely and effective responses to emergencies.
Supervision and Staff Development (20%)
- Supervise and provide professional development opportunities for the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life Housing Operations Coordinator Graduate Assistant Hall Directors Resident Assistants and student staff.
- Oversee the recruitment hiring and evaluation processes for professional and student staff.
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for all staff utilizing assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of training outcomes.
- Foster a culture of accountability and growth through regular feedback performance evaluations and recognition initiatives.
- Implement progressive discipline models for staff when necessary in collaboration with Human Resources and other institutional offices.
Campus Partnerships and Community Engagement (10%)
- Collaborate with campus departments such as Academic Affairs Admissions Athletics Student Engagement Student Success and Counseling Services to create a seamless and supportive residential experience.
- Serve on committees such as the Students of Concern Committee contributing to retention and student success initiatives.
- Partner with the Title IX Office to ensure compliance with Title IX regulations and support for students impacted by incidents of sexual misconduct.
- Support campus diversity equity and inclusion efforts by fostering dialogue and programming within residential communities.
- Actively participate in new student orientation and other campuswide events that support student transition and engagement.
Administrative Oversight and Assessment (10%)
- Develop and manage departmental budgets ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and efficient resource allocation.
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and partnerships related to housing operations.
- Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment to design and administer assessment tools that evaluate the impact of housing programs on student success.
- Prepare and submit annual and quarterly departmental reports highlighting accomplishments challenges and goals.
- Support assessment initiatives across Student Life to enhance datainformed decisionmaking and continuous improvement efforts.

Education and Experience
- Masters degree in college student development higher education administration or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of progressive experience in housing and residence life or a related area including supervisory responsibilities.
- Demonstrated understanding of student development theory and its application to residential programming and staff supervision.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse populations promote inclusivity and foster a sense of belonging.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using housing management software Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant technology platforms.
- Ability to analyze data and use metrics to inform decisionmaking and program development.
- Experience managing budgets and resources effectively.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion in all aspects of professional practice.
COMPENSATION
This is a position with an annual starting salary range of $49500 to $55000 depending on circumstances including an applicants skills and qualifications certain degrees and certifications prior job experience training and other relevant factors. Hood College has provided a compensation range representing its good faith estimate of what the College may pay for the position at the time of posting.
