Job Description
Job Purpose:
The purpose of the Legal Counsel is to provide legal advice; partnering closely with business leadership to drive business growth compliance initiatives and minimize risk to the business.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements including realestate debt construction sales vendorsand partnership contracts.
- Handle collection matters for the Company and assist Credit Department with improving procedures and processes
- Improve legal department processes.
- Support internal projects trainings and processes and drive crossfunctional efforts.
- Ensure the Company adheres to all applicable laws and regulations including developing and implementing compliance policies.
- Oversee the Companys intellectual property portfolio including trademarks and copyrights
- Help oversee the selection retention management and evaluation of all outside counsel
- Identify potential legal risks within business operations and advising on mitigation strategies
- Conduct training for Company employees as needed and any legal operating framework including issue resolution escalation compliance processes and risk management
- Other duties as assigned
- Work cooperatively with others
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- Maintain regular punctual and reliable attendance and availability

Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school
- 57 years legal practice experience
- Realestate and corporate experience preferred
- Indepth understanding of how legal issues affect organizations
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to build relationships openly share knowledge and effectively collaborate with business managers and outside counsel
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work effectively at all levels of the organization and externally
- Possess a valid drivers license
- Possess a satisfactory driving record as determined by Company Driver Policies
Travel Requirement:
- 20% travel to branches and other operating companies requiring some overnight stay travel to industry related conferences and training requiring some extended stay
