Job Description

Development Manager

Position Overview

In collaboration with the Vice President of Development and the development team the candidate will develop implement and evaluate fund development strategies to cultivate engage and steward faith partners prospects and individual donors achieving fund development goals for operating gifts and restricted funds. The candidate will play a role in advancing departmental initiatives overseeing specific programs and driving strategic priorities.

Responsibilities and Duties

Individual Giving Cultivation and Stewardship

  • Manage and expand membership in the Henry and Blanche Clark Society comprised of donors giving at least $1000 each fiscal year. Develop and implement plans for tailored communications and solicitations
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of midlevel and major donors and prospects with intent to form deep relationships. Responsible for minimum annual fundraising goal tied to segmented or blended portfolio
  • Maintain donor interest and motivate donors to renew or increase their level of involvement for donors giving up to $1000 each fiscal year
  • Ensure appropriate stewardship of gifts via acknowledgement letters phone calls notes personal visits and donor honor rolls
  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Development develop strategies to best engage donors and Board members and understand their links interests and abilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify and incorporate new donors in each campaign to enlarge the donor base
  • Identify cultivate and solicit financial support from a portfolio of 150 donors
  • Research and identify new donor prospects
  • Update and maintain donor and prospective donor information in the Development database
  • Manage monthly donors and develop strategies to increase donation
    Program Oversight
  • Serve as the primary manager for the Women Build program enhancing program impact through new peertopeer fundraising strategies an annual Women Build Day and expanded engagement opportunities
  • Lead engagement and cultivation of faithbased partnerships including serving as the liaison for faith partners planning events coordinating volunteer days and facilitating collaborative fundraising efforts

    Strategic Development Initiatives
  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Development establish annual development plans including setting fundraising goals and expense budget for specified programs including Women Build faith partnerships and special initiatives
  • Identify recruit manage and steward partners and volunteers to mutually serve the needs of partnerships volunteers and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County to maximize affiliate capacity
  • Represent the organization at networking fairs events and community functions to cultivate new donor and partner relationships
  • Lead planning and execution of faithbased and Women Build events serving as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders. Assist the development department with other special events as needed

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in fundraising program management or related fields
  • Experience with donor management software (e.g. Raisers Edge NXT) and peertopeer fundraising platforms preferred
  • A strong belief in the organizations mission and vision
  • Ability to work with partner groups from various faith backgrounds and beliefs
  • Strong communications and marketing skills coupled with the ability to influence others in a positive manner
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with others and to present ideas effectively verbally and in writing
  • Initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities in addition to the ability to work as a team member
  • Strong project management skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution. Proven experience managing and growing donor portfolios leading fundraising initiatives and planning strategic events
