Department Information


This position is only open to Colorado state residents.


New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

Due to the end of the states fiscal year it is expected that the selected candidate for this position will start in July 2025.

Description of Job

About the Work Unit

The Division of Human Resources provides all human resources (HR) functions at the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) which includes performance management compensation and benefits employee relations programs labor relations HR compliance organizational & employee development recruitment selection and HR Information Systems. The HR Division is the point of contact for all HR related activities and ensures that department policies and procedures state personnel rules and procedures state and federal employment laws and HR best practices are appropriately implemented at CDOT.


About the Position

As an Employee Relations Specialist you will provide CDOT employees and managers with strategic consultation advice counseling and guidance on issues that relate to performance management progressive discipline employee grievances and appeals and civil rights. You will also be the CDOT expert (staff authority) for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) program and the unemployment program.

The Hiring Process:
