SUMMARY:

Hudson Public Schools is seeking a Coordinator of School Counseling. The Coordinator of School Counseling is the leader of the School Counseling Department for both Quinn Middle School (grades 57) and Hudson High School (grades 812). Additionally this role coordinates the Early College Program supports secondarylevel social emotional learning (SEL) initiatives and serves on the high school leadership team. This position has a critical role in monitoring the quality and continuity of school counseling services and programs at the secondary level and ensures that students families staff and community have access to the needed information to benefit from the full breadth of department programming and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grades 512 (serving Quinn Middle School and Hudson High School)

  • Plan organize and direct all activities for Counseling Services.
  • Supervise & Evaluate the guidance counselors and school adjustment counselors.
  • Oversee all guidance curriculum development and delivery; develop innovative methods for delivering counseling services based on the current needs of students staff and community.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for school counseling postsecondary transition and other schoolwide programs.

Grades 812 (serving Hudson High School)

  • Manage the process to build and rollout the high school master schedule with the support of Building Leadership. This includes the regular review and revision of the Program of Studies overseeing the student course registration process and executing all of the technical functions required within ASPEN the district student information software.
  • Supervise all 504 Plan Coordination and Accountability.
  • Oversee PSAT and AP testing including College Board Students with Disabilities Coordination and all Data Collection and Distribution.
  • Manage the department budget.
  • Participate in the hiring of department personnel.
  • Management of Naviance School Profile Student Transcripts GPAs and the department Webpage etc.
  • Supervise all electronic forms of student records including report cards and transcripts in accordance to all state and federal student records regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree required
  • Massachusetts DESE license School Guidance Counselor (Grades 512); Supervisor/Director (School Counselor) and/or Assistant Principal/Principal (512)
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Experience with building master schedules preferred
  • Experience with ASPEN (or equivalent software) preferred
  • Citizenship residency or work visa required

WORK YEAR:

  • The Director shall be required to work on site for 203 days annually from July 1 to June 30.
  • The Directors salary is compensation for 203 workdays in the work year established for this position. A calendar will be established each year in advance by the Director and their supervisor.
  • This work calendar must contain work days of 180 school days 3 full professional development days and 10 days following the last day of school and 10 days before the first day of school School Break weeks and summer off!

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the supervision and evaluation of all school counseling department staff following the Massachusetts Model System for Educator Evaluation.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Massachusetts DESE license School Guidance Counselor (Grades 512); Supervisor/Director (School Counselor) and/or Assistant Principal/Principal (512)

While performing duties of this job the employee must often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee may be required to occasionally traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger handle or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e. a calculator copy machine and computer printer). The employee must be able to input information into a computer and as well as read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students staff members and the public in person and on the telephone.

The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day and location. The employee interacts with parents staff members and the general public. The employee occasionally must meet multiple demands from several people.
