Job Description

Job Summary

The Graduate Nurse plays a key role in the delivery of caring competent patient care in conjunction with a mentoring Registered Nurse. Will perform assessments in an ongoing and systematic manner formulate a goal directed plan of care and implement delegated interdependent and independent direct care activities based on skills learning and clinical training assessment findings and evaluation of any previous interventions. Collaborates with mentoring RN on the nursing process supporting documentation and other items as appropriate.

It is expected that Graduate Nurses will successfully obtain certification/licensure from the State of Michigan and transition into a Registered Nurse role within 60 days. For Corewell South Graduate Nurses will successfully obtain NIHSS certification within 90 days of start date.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment diagnosis outcomes identification planning implementation and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice culturally congruent practice communication collaboration leadership education evidencebased practice and research quality of practice professional practice evaluation resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Required Associates Degree Nursing
  • Preferred Bachelors Degree Nursing
  • LICRegistered Nurse (RN) STATEMI State of Michigan 60 Days required
  • CRTNIH Stroke Certification NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale CHS 90 Days required
