Under the authority of the Director of the Cabinet in cooperation with the Senior Management the incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic and political advice on the DirectorGenerals engagement with UNESCOs Governing Bodies President of the General Conference Chair of the Executive Board Permanent Delegations and Electoral Groups. He/she will also provide strategic advice and decisionmaking support on statutory meetings of UNESCOs Governing Bodies.
The incumbent will also provide strategic advice and decisionmaking support to the DirectorGeneral and the Director of the Cabinet to reshape redirect UNESCOs strategies policies and programmes Global Priority Africa Gender Equality and intersectoral programmes falling under the purview of the Sector for Administration and Management (ADM) including on the human resources of the Organization in close cooperation with the Assistant DirectorGeneral for ADM (ADG/ADM) and the Director of Human Resources Management (DIR/HRM).
The Senior Advisor will provide strategic advice on the preparation of the Programme and Budget (C/5) of the Organization in keeping with the DirectorGenerals vision and the decisions of the Governing Bodies as well as in monitoring budgetary issues pertaining to its implementation in close coordination with the Director of the Bureau of Strategic Planning (BSP) and ADG/ADM. She/he will provide advice to the DirectorGeneral and the Director of the Cabinet on aspects related to UNESCOs Global Priority Gender Equality in close collaboration with the Director of the Gender Equality Division relating to the DirectorGenerals participation in conferences and international events on Gender Equality.
The incumbent will also support and provide advice to the Deputy DirectorGeneral in monitoring strategies and policies as well as on the implementation of his activities (meetings with highlevel representatives of Member States administration and human resources issues).

UNESCOs salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave family allowance medical insurance pension plan etc.
The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 151 700 US $.
