This position is in Alberta Office of Statistics and Information (OSI) branch within the Economics and Fiscal Policy Division in Treasury Board and Finance. The OSI is Albertas statistical agency and the Statistical Focal Point for Statistics Canada. The OSIs mission is to provide highquality insightful and accessible data and analysis to support informed decisions about issues that matter to Albertans.

Be at the forefront of Albertas data revolution: lead the development and implementation of cuttingedge statistical methodologies that transform raw information into actionable insights informing government decisions on issues that truly matter to Albertans.

Reporting to the Director of Data and Statistical Services within the Alberta Office of Statistics and Information the Senior Methodologist advances OSIs mission to deliver highquality accessible data and analysis. You will spearhead methodological innovation collaborate with crossgovernment partners and ensure the rigor and reliability of statistical models that underpin provincial policy development and evaluation.

You will design and evaluate sophisticated statistical methodsranging from survey sampling strategies to smallarea estimation and modelbased forecastingto address complex social and economic challenges. As a technical leader youll guide crossdiscipline research initiatives manage methodological aspects of multistakeholder projects and mentor junior analysts. You will also engage with external experts academic institutions and Statistics Canada to share best practices anticipate emerging trends and communicate complex findings through clear reports and presentations.

University graduation is required in Statistics Mathematics Data Science Econometrics or closely related field plus at least six years of professional experience in methodology and model development; and some formal coursework in survey or research or analytical methodology and model building.

Masters degree is preferred.

The following are considered assets:
Indepth knowledge in designing planning and executing a variety of multistakeholder collaborative projects such as data development and management; survey research and analytical methodology; and modeling.
Effectively advise clients on the design and methodology related to their projects or initiatives; foster collaborative relationship; and manage stakeholder expectations.
Expert knowledge of techniques and software for theoretical and applied econometric/statistical models.
Strong data management and analytical skills using advanced programming software such as SAS R Python and STATA.
Strong organizational and project management skills to optimize resources and effectively manage time.
Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong analytical and quantitative skills. The incumbent must be able to communicate highly technical issues in simple straightforward language.

This is a permanent fulltime position working 36.25 hours per week Monday to Friday.

This position will be located in the Queen Elizabeth II (formerly Federal Building) in Edmonton.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future roles at the same or lower classifications.

Candidates may be asked to participate in a written assessment prior to the interview.

The final candidate for this position will be asked to undergo preemployment checks.

Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses will be the responsibility of the candidate. Outofprovince applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.
