Part Time (40 hours/biweekly)
Shift: Days/Evening
Position Function: Under the direction of the Peri Operative Services Nurse Manager maintains and prepares anesthesia supplies and equipment before during and after anesthesia induction. Assists Peri Operative team members with the preparation of Operating Rooms for patient surgical procedures by ensuring that all surgical supplies and equipment are available and assists with patient related activities as assigned maintaining established procedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
workload at beginning of shift so that important deadlines are met.
equipment and medications anticipated to be needed for a scheduled patient.
cleans sterilizes or disposes of equipment as appropriate after each case.
restocks anesthesia cart at end of schedule in preparation for the following days needs.
stock inventory of drugs anesthetic agents and expendable supplies; requisitions supplies as required.
stock and inventory within OR SDS PACU Clean Core as needed
the glucometer & ACT waiver testing and reports all abnormal recordings to Surgical Services management. Maintains and logs results.
with connecting of anesthesia monitoring equipment and assists with positioning patient as directed.
phone; responds or refers as necessary; takes complete phone messages to include caller data and response requested.
a neat clean work area observing infection control guidelines; communicates housekeeping needs as appropriate.
arrangements with salesperson under the direction of the Clinical or RN Manager to arrange inservices and meetings.
own role in case of surgical fire codes and emergency situations and responds appropriately.
with the patient and equipment transport and room turnover.
with patient positioning as needed
restocks anesthesia carts located in Surgical Services Perinatal and all specialty areas at the end of each case.
ability to communicate pertinent information to the Charge RN Clinical Manager or RN Manager as appropriate.
guidance and direction as necessary for performance of duties and completion of assignment.
and maintains a neat clean and safe environment for patients and other nursing staff.
75% of inservices and staff meetings for area.
with duties and performs them independently accurately efficiently promptly recognizing their importance and relationship to patient care for all age/population groups.
instructions and follows directions accurately and in a cooperative manner.
changes in patient condition & promptly reports to primary nurse.
proper body mechanics to prevent injury to self and others. Safely positions transfers and transports patients.
in maintaining equipment assigned to patient care and reports malfunctioning of equipment to appropriate personnel.
in orientation of new personnel to the unit by being friendly and encouraging and serving as a preceptor or buddy.
and responds to priorities in the patient care process. Readily adapts to changes in workload and responds efficiently.
appropriately to emergency situations.
units needs and promptly answers/responds to patient call lights pages and safety checks.
in post mortem care and transports the body to Morgue on occasion.
external cardiac compressions to patients during Code Blue activities if required.
medications within the hospital as requested and needed according to Hospital policy. Responds and assists anesthesia for all code blue situations.
Qualifications and Standards
Education: Formal Education and Training: High School graduate or equivalent required.
Informal or Continuing Education: None required.
Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. One year of clinically related experience in a hospital or healthcare setting required. Respiratory Care airway management preferred.
Certifications/Licensure: CPR Certification required.
