The Watanabe Lab at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (Long Island) Department of Anatomy invites applications for a two year postdoctoral position.
NYITCOMs Anatomy Department includes 9 fulltime faculty with active research programs in computational biomechanics evolution and development and neurosensory anatomy. The successful applicant will have access to stateoftheart research facilities including: a Visualization Center equipped with microCT scanner Amira workstations 3D printers portable laser surface scanners and microscopy; a tissue staining lab for histology and staining; an embryology lab for in vivo experiments; a microscopy facility with confocal microscopes; both human and animal gait labs for collecting kinematic force profile and EMG data; a fully staffed animal care center and a new Center for Biomedical Innovations for robotics VR and AR. The successful applicant will conduct grantfunded research investigating brain and skull development and evolution in avian systems using modern imaging morphometric and molecular techniques. The position will include opportunities to mentor undergraduate and medical students and assist with development of educational initiatives such as a short handon lab curriculum 3D printing and/or virtual reality.
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by the start who have completed all degree requirements for a Ph.D. will also be considered. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated interest and expertise in vertebrate anatomy evolutionary biology computedtomography (CT) imaging immunofluorescence techniques embryology microscopy geometric morphometrics and/or programming.
