Job Description
The Montgomery County School Board Virginia is now accepting applications for a Plumber position that is available in the division beginning July 1 2025.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Plumber is required to perform a variety of tasks in the general maintenance and repair of buildings grounds facilities and equipment for all MCPS property within the county to maintain a condition of operating excellence. The Plumber must possess the ability to work independently or as part of a team to perform maintenance and make repairs interior and exterior to water gas oil sewer and storm drain systems. The Plumber also works independently or as part of a team to assist within skill level all other maintenance personnel when needed in painting masonry grounds maintenance HVAC electrical and carpentry.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Virginia drivers license
- Must obtain license (Journeyman card in two years; Masters card in six years)
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability and willingness to follow written and oral directions
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Possess effective mechanical aptitude
- Posses a working knowledge of standard practices methods tools and materials of the plumbing trade
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations and commitment to maintain a safe work environment
- Ability and willingness to work in adverse weather conditions
- Ability and willingness to cooperate with other staff members to perform and document all work
- Ability and willingness to work from sketches blueprints oral and written instructions
- Ability and willingness to perform tasks requiring moderate physical strength (50#) including climbing use of extension ladders and walking on beams
- Ability to read basic operating instructions
- Ability and willingness to adapt to changes in the work environment
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Ability and willingness to work a revised work schedule as emergencies or operational needs require
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of five years combined experience as a plumber in industrial or commercial facilities
- Technology skills
Salary: $36341.00 $70892.87 annually with benefits depending on experience (salary may change due tobudget considerations)
