About the Opportunity
The Department of Art Design in the College of Arts Media and Design invites applications for a fulltime nontenure track Teaching Professor at the rank of Assistant or Associate or Full. All classes will be taught at Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts. We seek an innovative colleague eager to contribute to the teaching and administration of the undergraduate fundamentals courses key to the department.
The fulltime faculty member will teach courses in the Art Design fundamentals which includes 6 courses spanning from drawing to composition to making to video to interaction. These courses are 2 credits and taken by students early in their program. This role will also coordinate and manage these courses in Boston and advise for other campuses where these courses are offered. A successful candidate is an engaged maker with a strong record of professional practice/research who demonstrates an expansive view of the field of art and design.
Responsibilities:
The fulltime faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses at the fundamental level in the Department of Art Design. Other responsibilities for this position include coordinating the schedule and curriculum in the fundamentals by working with instructors and department administrators. In addition to teaching all fulltime faculty are expected to contribute to the cultural life and function of the program through service commitments on committees special projects and student advising and engagement activities.
A full course load with a 1.0 FTE appointment is 24 credits per year (12 per semester) or the equivalent with the opportunity to teach in the summer (MayAugust) for extra compensation. The positions standard duties consist of 80% teaching 10% service and 10% creative practice with the possibility of course release for largescale service project such as the management and coordination of the fundamentals.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a terminal degree in the anticipated focus areas of teaching. Rank as an Assistant Associate or Full teaching professor will be assessed in consideration of the candidates previous teaching experience and creative practice and/or research experience.

Pay Range:
Assistant Teaching Professor: $61000.00 $75000.00 Associate Teaching Professor: $70000.00 $88000.00 Teaching Professor: $77000.00 $97000.00With the pay range(s) shown above the starting salary will depend on several factors which may include your education experience location knowledge and expertise and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarlysituated employees already in the role.
