High Point Universitys School of Optometry is seeking to appoint a group of optometric faculty members with specialties in foundational sciences ocular disease primary care contact lenses pediatrics binocular vision and vision rehabilitation. The ideal candidates will be passionate about educating the next generation of optometrists engaging in scholarly activities and contributing to the advancement of the optometric profession.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Earned doctoral level degree (O.D. Ph.D. or equivalent) degree from an accredited optometry school in a discipline related to the mission of the School of Optometry.
Experience and Training: Minimum of three years clinical experience in optometry or completion of an optometric residency. Experience in academic settings as an instructor or researcher is highly desirable.
Knowledge Skills Ability: Strong foundation in optometric care and its various subspecialties. Ability to engage and inspire students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to research and scholarly activity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide high-quality instruction in optometry courses including lectures labs and clinical supervision.
- Develop and maintain a research program with a focus on contributing to the body of knowledge in optometric science and practice.
- Engage in service activities within the School of Optometry the university and the broader professional community.
- Advise and mentor optometry students in academic research and clinical capacities.
- Collaborate with faculty members across departments to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
