This Correctional Support Trades Supervisor I (CSTS I) is a Warehouse Supervisor for the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) Sterling Correctional Facility Warehouse. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: ensuring safe secure and efficient maintenance of inventory and warehouse; ensuring efficient delivery of warehouse commodities and ensuring effective training and supervision of inmate warehouse workers.
Inventory:position maintains inventory controls through efficient and effective processing of warehouse paperwork to ensure the integrity of the automated inventory control system. Confirms perpetual inventory by performingcountof on hand quantities and comparingto computer generated counts; evaluates inventory levels and usage reports makes recommendations for adjustments to reorder pointsand meet demands; justifies reasons for product returns and initiates return to vendor documents.
Deliveries Provides deliveries of warehouse commodities to the Sterling Correctional Facility via box truck or other vehicle. Position chooses appropriate vehicles to make deliveries by determining load sizes proximity to warehouse number of loads to haul priority of delivery. Works with other staff drivers as a collaborative problem solving team to set up delivery schedules and maximize use of available vehicles to complete required deliveries. Assures all deliveries are made on time by adjusting schedules.
Receiving verifies proper delivery location unloads product utilizing appropriate equipment (i.e. forklift electric or manual pallet jacks) inspects shipment for quality grade freshness and packaging specifications; maintains accurate documentation of received goods notating discrepancies and making proper notifications.
Issuing verifies accuracy of request forms (i.e. cost center information unusual quantities) distributes requests to inmate storekeepers for pulling verifies accuracy of orders pulled notes special delivery/handling requirements and coordinates delivery.
Shipping verifies Return to Vendor form is accurate and properly authorized selects most economical shipping method and maintains Return to Vendor file.
Storage: maintains proper storage of inventory by determining best utilization of storage areas; monitors temperature of refrigerators freezers cool rooms and dry storage areas; monitors product rotation and shelf life inspecting for pilferage deterioration contamination and infestation. Follows Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and agency policy regarding hazardous chemical storage.
Maintenance assures physical plant and material handling equipment (i.e. forklifts hand and electric pallet jacks hand trucks and carts) are properly maintained and safe to operate by following preventive maintenance schedules and performing repairs as needed.
Supervision & Training: position supervises and trains an inmate workforce in daily warehouse duties; promotes a high level of performance by setting the work standard according to agency mission vision and values. Trains and instructs staff and inmates in the proper use of relevant tools equipment and procedures to ensure the safe efficient and effective completion of assigned tasks; stresses safe practices and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for self staff and inmates; exemplifies a professional workforce that embodies honesty integrity and ethical behavior.
Inmate Supervision participates in the interview and hiring process in order to ensure appropriate work assignment and training needs; trains inmate workers in all aspects of accepted warehouse principles and practices. Assigns tasks verifies accuracy of work and keeps deadlines; monitors inmate performance and conducts evaluations; creates schedules and tracks inmate hours and wages. Position resolves conflict between workers and handles informal inmate grievances and initiates corrective or disciplinary action when necessary.
Safety and Security: position maintains safety and security of warehouse and work sites; through clear and accurate communication trains and guides staff and inmates in comprehensive key tool equipment and chemical control and use; position performs inmate counts shakedowns and work area searches inmate escorts and transportation movement control and the proper application of restraints and force. Through conscientious observation clear communications and adherence to agency Administrative Regulations and the Code of Penal Discipline position promotes a safe and secure environment.
Position works in close proximity to industrial equipment in varying indoor temperatures and outside during inclement weather.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years of employment experience as described above may be combined with two (2) years employment experience inRetail Experience Office Management or Correctional experience for a total ofat least four (4) years.
Correctional Experience must be security related duties where primary responsibilities included detaining controlling movement and escorting inmates in a prison facility; conducting counts and searches while monitoring inmate assignments and movement throughout the day.
