Salary:Currently $49638.36$92138.12 (DOE) still being negotiated for.

Job Description:

The SpeechLanguage Pathology Assistant (SLPA) works under the supervision of a licensed SpeechLanguage Pathologist (SLP) to support the treatment of individuals with speech language voice and fluency disorders. The SLPA helps implement speechlanguage therapy plans documents student progress and performs administrative and preparatory tasks that support service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Therapy Implementation
      • Conduct therapy sessions as directed by the supervising SLP.
      • Use intervention techniques developed by the SLP to address speech language articulation fluency voice and communication disorders.
      • Assist in carrying out individualized treatment plans and group therapy sessions.
    • Documentation & RecordKeeping
      • Accurately document client responses performance and progress during therapy sessions.
      • Maintain records in compliance with federal and state regulations as well as local district or clinic policies.
    • Administrative Support
      • Prepare therapy materials and equipment.
      • Assist with clerical tasks related to therapy services.
      • Monitor and maintain therapy supplies.
    • Collaboration & Communication
      • Communicate regularly with the supervising SLP regarding student progress and concerns.
      • Works well with others from diverse backgrounds.
      • Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit.
      • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with students staff and the public.
      • Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in oneonone small group situations to students and other school staff.
      • Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries from students.
      • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions procedure manuals and governmental regulations.
      • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral schedule or diagram form.

      • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations.

  • Computer Skills

    • General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use database software email internet software spreadsheets and word processing software. MS Office Google and ecWeb database knowledge preferred
  • Other Essential Duties
    • Attends work regularly and as scheduled.
    • Possess the ability to perform all functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Maintains good working relationships with district personnel.
    • Observes working hours and attends and participates in inservice and staff meetings.
    • Follows directions and works well in a team situation with the SLPs.
    • Ability to appropriately communicate with students teachers administrators and parents.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions.
    • Ability to work independently.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education and/or Experience:
    • Associates degree in a SpeechLanguage Pathology Assistant program or a bachelors degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (with SLPA certification/training).
    • Certification or licensure as a SpeechLanguage Pathology Assistant through the Oregon State Board of Examiners for SpeechLanguage Pathology and Audiology.
    • Completion of supervised fieldwork/internship.
    • Prior experience working with children or individuals with communication disorders.
    • Familiarity with educational settings IEP documentation or assistive communication devices.
  • Certificates Licenses Registrations:
    • Hold a valid Oregon Drivers License.
    • Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card.
