Job Purpose

To ensure the implementation of basic & essential healthcare needs of the employees & their families. To look after the effectiveness of the various working section of the Dispensary. To achieve a disease free life pattern of the working employees of the unit. To look after the Healthcare administration. To participate in rural / Local healthcare programme under the banner of Aditya Birla Jana Seva Trust.

Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context: Aditya Birla Insulators (ABI) is the largest manufacturer of Electrical Insulators in India and the 4th largest in the world. Started in 1967 with an initial capacity of 2400 MT ABI presently has two plants one at Rishra near Kolkata and other at Halol near Vadodara with a combined production capacity of 48800 MT and caters to the entire spectrum of substation transmission and distribution insulators up to system voltages of 1200 KV AC & HVDC.



To keep pace with power sector growth the capacity is being further enhanced by 2600 MT progressively by Jun10 thus making it a total of 51400 MT which will make ABI as the third largest player in the world. Additionally composites are being introduced as a complimentary solution to meet application in the highly polluted zones. With 25% of the total revenue coming from exports ABI specializes in high strength equipment porcelains insulators and has emerged as a leading supplier of substation equipment insulators to multinational OEMs. The product application carries a high risk factor and requires high degree of reliability for uninterrupted power supply. The insulators business is hightech and complex requiring critical competencies and special skills to market the products. The manufacturing process requires continuous & rigorous quality monitoring.



The job demands proactive response to changing market needs and focusing on higherend products and favourable market segments for providing better contribution. The job demands a high level understanding of customers technical & functional requirements for ensuring an acceptable quality level. The job also demands a high degree of networking skill to build and nurture longterm customers loyalty.



The global scenario has undergone a change with consolidation at both other manufacturer of insulators and at buyers level. Advent of China and Eastern Europe also made the market more competitive.





Job Challenges:

reduce / eliminate occupational health and disease and to see that the employees maintain good health

major accidental Traumatic & Burn cases & referring to ESI specially in the case of workmen.

provide round the clock medical services to the employees & families.

Key Result Areas

KRA (Accountabilities) (Max 1325 Characters)Supporting Actions (Max 1325 Characters)KRA1Administration of medical activities smoothly and coordinate between various working sections like Laboratory Dispensary etc.Regular interaction with existing Sr. Medical Officer & Staff.

Providing fruitful suggestions & monitoring their implementations.

Making availability of essential drugs/lab materials/ chemicals a foremost activity.

Making availability of ambulance for shifting of patients along with emergency equipments.

Arrangement of specialists services from timetotime & as per need

Maintenance of special machines for effective working.KRA2Raising annual indent for procurement of essential medicines/lab materials/equipment for the Dispensary.Deciding medicine procurement in consultation with peers and subordinates.

Prioritize most essential and most commonly used drug by the help of previous years consumption.

Send to department head for final sanction and recommendation.KRA3Organizes Pre Medical check up for the new joinees & periodical medical check up of employees for identification of any disease entity prevailing and to take steps for preventive and corrective measures to be advised. Ensure proper diagnosis & medical treatment of patients.Organizing Pre Joining Medical Check up of new joinees and submitting the report to HR in time.

Identify problematic areas.

Advise preventive measures.

Take advice of specialists as per needs.

Maintenance of health registers.

Advise Investigation as & when required.

Guiding patient to come for followup in chronic ailments.

To refer critical cases to specialists for consultations.KRA4At times govt.s circular regarding preventions / spread of imminent epidemic arrives which is followed in letter & spirit.All concerned department are informed regarding various activities to be taken up.

A cocoordinated teamwork is set up.

All the measures pertaining to hygiene & sanitation are advised.KRA5Organization of medical camps under the banner of Aditya Birla Jana Seva Trust to build up & boost companys image in community.To conduct rural & peripheral camps for the benefit of surrounding villages.

To coordinate Govt.s / Social agencies.
