How do we improve associate experience What drives hiring engagement and retention of the best and the brightest associates in Amazons Worldwide Operations (supporting hundreds of thousands of dedicated associates and leaders deliver millions of packages and smiles to customers every day) As a Data Engineer on the WSTM Employee Engagement Solutions team you will support the HR needs of the largest organization in Amazons retail business. Your stakeholders will range from FC HR to data scientists economists software development teams and product managers seeking to improve associate experience. The data products that you build and support will help our leaders focus their efforts on ways that will engage retain and grow their associates to propel the business forward. The EES analytics team supports field and organizational leadership by advising actions informing decisions and identifying risk for Amazons Worldwide Operations. Our teams goal is to help Amazon HR become the worlds most scientific HR organization empowering leaders and enabling action through data and science.
Key job responsibilities As a Data Engineer you will help us build large scale near realtime data platforms metrics and models that drive actionable insights and scalable processes for Amazons core retail HR operations. You will combine the power of AWS with Amazon internal ETL tools highly optimized SQL and scripting languages to build solutions that scale to serve the worldwide HR operations business needs. Data Engineers on the team lead the design implementation and successful delivery of ETL services which collectively use 15 AWS services e.g. Lambda Glue Lake Formation CloudWatch API gateway EMR Redshift DynamoDb etc. They are expected to maintain their individual knowledge of these AWS services in order to design efficient scalable costeffective services and data pipelines with high availability (>99.5% SLAs) and data quality and are also expected to be able to work backwards from their customers which requires interfacing across the WS organization at multiple levels and functions and maintaining conceptual knowledge of the data domains required to build foundational datasets.
About the team You will be part of the Employee Engagement Solutions team within the Workforce Solutions Organization. The Employee Engagement team owns the full suite of employee facing products such as Thrive Engage Gather and Conversation Hub.
1 years of data engineering experience Experience with data modeling warehousing and building ETL pipelines Experience with one or more query language (e.g. SQL PL/SQL DDL MDX HiveQL SparkSQL Scala) Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g. Python KornShell)
Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop Hive Spark EMR Experience with any ETL tool like Informatica ODI SSIS BODI Datastage etc.
