As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer the qualifying candidate will be part of the Embedded Software App team in developing sustaining and supporting firmware and platforms for across Flukes product line. Work on this team will be involved in the development of challenging cuttingedge firmware for handheld and benchtop instruments used in test and measurement calibration networking infrared/acoustic imaging and power quality. Our firmware enables our customers to visualize diagnose track calibrate and report issues using a wide range of Fluke products. The ideal candidate will bring an aptitude for bridging platforms to provide our customers with the best products in the world.
This candidate will have significant input and responsibility for designing and implementing embedded software solutions for our products. They will develop effective efficient and reliable embedded software during project phases. They will continuously design develop and improve the existing firmware platform to meet the needs of our customers and maintain a robust modern development environment. They will have a desire to work collaboratively with a team distributed in numerous sites across EU as well as large local onsite contingent and be part of a highly regarded group of like minded engineers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a contributor to major development projects including being a technical leader for components within such developments we want you to use your skills to help push our technical boundaries
- Assignments include development of new applications features enhancements modifications and corrections to existing firmware.
- Design implement test and maintain firmware based for Embedded Linux firmware application for ARM core processors
- Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documents (Embedded Software Design Document) diagrams code comments and readable code
- Work collaboratively with others to achieve goals
- Able to perform comfortably in a fastpaced work environment
- Provide guidance and work direction to junior engineers as we grow
- Be part of and build a positive work culture onsite inclusive of others in remote locations
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree/Master of Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering or similar technical field of study with a strong embedded firmware/software development background we want trained software engineers capable of architecting robust technical solutions.
- At least 8 years in C/C coding experience
- Experience with Agilebased development process preferably some flavor of Scrum on multiple projects.
- At least 8 years experience developing software for technical products experience with full software lifecycle
- At least 8 years professional software development experience in Linux application software on Linux OS/ARM core processor
- At least 8 years experience with C/C Objected Oriented Design/Development Multithreaded Programming Software Architecture Design Patterns and Linux OS
- Demonstrable experience in other languages (Python etc) is a bonus as well as a wide experience of using different frameworks (Qt etc) is of interest.
- Experience in being a leading technical voice in small to medium sized firmware teams
- Ability to work independently and multitask
- Experience with C17 or newer.
- Experience with Yocto Project Docker Containers and Build systems
- Knowledge/Development experience with ARM core processors
- Experience with various communication network protocols etc
- Excellent communication skills you will have colleagues in Austria Germany and the UK.
- Flexibility in working across timezones collaboration with colleagues in Fluke HQ in Seattle US is occasionally required.
- Willingness to travel on occasion (US/EU/UK)
