ONA is seeking to hire a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Toronto office. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and works within the boundaries of ONAs governing and administrative policies the Vision and Strategic Outcomes this position is accountable for ensuring that all assigned accounting functions are performed efficiently and accurately.
This is what else you can expect from this dynamic role:
- Prepare and deliver timely accurate and useful financial presentations and analyses to support management senior executive and board decisions.
- Assist in the development and ongoing improvement of a budgeting and forecasting model to assist in meeting the organizations strategic priorities and actions in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Lead the preparation of the annual multiyear planning exercise annual budget and monthly financial forecast review following up on significant variances determining appropriate followup actions.
- Assist nonfinancial leaders in understanding operating results providing financial advice and operational guidance and support.
- Prepare account reconciliations on a monthly quarterly and annual basis supported by appropriate documentation and audit evidence.
- Develop and implement improved financial models and processes to meet the evolving needs of the organization providing valueadded suggestions and solutions to increase efficiency effective maintenance and data flow between finance and other organizational departments such as Human Resources IT Dues and Membership.
- Assist in the development of new decision support systems for internal management reporting and improvement of controls budgeting financial planning procurement gating and strategic priorities.
- Preparation of biweekly payroll entries and maintain staffing related analysis and metrics including the development and maintenance of a position management process maintaining sensitive and confidential information used for strategic planning.
- Assist in preparing and reconciling T4 forms and any reporting requirements to external regulatory parties.
- Work collaboratively with other portfolios to develop customized data forms processes and analyses to maintain data integrity.
- Continually look to improve and ensure data quality timeliness consistency accuracy and completeness of all financial processes and models.
- Evaluate the reasonableness of financial and statistical data providing recommendations for changes to processes and procedures to enhance financial reporting.
General
- Accountable for other special assignments and adhoc analysis as required.
- Actively participating as a team member on the Accounting Team to ensure that organizational priorities are met.
- Share knowledge and expertise in performance reporting and monitoring.
- Takes initiative to improve financial information analytics and business processes to improve data quality and ensure reporting compliance.
- Other duties as assigned including participation on special committees assisting with the onboarding and training of other staff and business leaders to meet financial data policy and process requirements.
- The successful candidate must be able to travel possess a valid drivers license and have access to an automobile for business use.
What we are looking for
- Successful completion of a university degree in Business Administration Accounting and/or economics is required.
- CPA designation required.
- Minimum of 4 years experience is required with at least 2 years in a financial planning and analysis capacity.
- Strong skillset in MS Excel and modern BI Tools.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Selfstarter with the ability to lead entitywide projects.
- Driven to consistently look for process improvements and efficiencies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Sage 50 and Sage 300 knowledge is an asset.
- Concur knowledge is an asset.
