POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of South Carolina is required. Additional training in system planning overcurrent protection relaying and power quality fundamentals is required.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of five (5) years experience in engineering at an electric cooperative another electrical utility and/or an engineering consulting firm is required. Will require three (3) years experience in this position to become proficient.
Should have an effective working knowledge of RUS requirements and procedures as it applies to planning purchasing construction and retirement associated with an electrical distribution system. Should be familiar with the National Electrical Safety Code National Electrical Code OSHA regulations and Cooperative policies. Must a sound knowledge of electrical distribution system fundamentals and the associated special equipment. Must be able to model the electrical distribution system perform all necessary calculations and apply the results to make recommendations for system improvements.
Should be skilled in working and communicating with employees members and the public. Must be proficient in the use of computers and software. Must be skilled in planning designing and preparing specifications to meet the Cooperatives requirements for electrical distribution. Must have a valid South Carolina Drivers license.
Usual office conditions. Subject to field work on special projects. Subject to irregular hours and outside work in adverse weather conditions during emergencies. Some travel outside service area for periods up to a week.
