Job Description

Position: Summer Discovery Program Activity Coordinator

Location: Newton and Community

Hours: Fulltime 8week contract

Salary: $24.72/hour

Start Date: Anticipated start of June 2 2025


We are looking for a Summer Program Activity Coordinator to join our Community Inclusion Team for an 8week contracted position. The successful applicant MUST meet the criteria set out by the Government. This individual must be inclusive in life approaches organized and passionate about creating fun learning opportunities.

SOURCES is a communitybased nonprofit organization providing support and hope to communities in the Lower Mainland on Vancouver Island and across Northern BC. Description of Position:

Reporting to: Lifeskills Assistant Managers and Program Coordinator

  • Plan weekly themed events and activities following a budget and consider the individuals participating (Zoo parks Tours as examples)
  • Participate and support in events and activities
  • Assisting individuals with developmental disabilities to participate in planned events and adapting activities to ensure inclusion and safety
  • Be skilled in thorough planning and communication with the team
  • Be energetic positive and work as a collaborative team
  • Provide dignified respectful support to individuals

Physical Demands of Job: Lifting/pulling/pushing 50% Walking/moving around 75% Sitting 25% Time spent outside 50% Bending/crouching 25%

Cognitive Demands of Job: Independent work 50% Task memorization 25% Changing priorities 50% Writing/reading 50%


Qualifications and Eligibility:

  • Meet the CSJ qualifications (below)
  • Be organized and creative
  • Enjoy planning events and activities
  • Able to create a detailed plan including a budget

To be eligible for this contract position you must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
