JOB SUMMARY:

Manage the development and delivery of technical training for Empire employees and external customers within the department at the Empire Training Institute (ETI). Work with ETI support team and trainers schedule effective delivery of courses. Obtain and maintain knowledge of Caterpillar technical products and related training needs while incorporating frequent National Preservation Institute (NPI) updates in curriculum to ensure accurate delivery of timely knowledge into curriculum content. Serve as a catalyst and key advisor/leader for curriculum delivery development; motivating staff to ensure that technical development training and other objectives are met. Maintain positive relationships with external customers and other dealer contacts to maximize opportunities to increase business revenue while balancing priorities and internal needs. Responsible for promoting and developing curriculum for additional training programs including but not limited to Caterpillar courses both offsite and through Dealer Learning Management System (DLMS).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages corporate and technical training curriculum and delivery schedule for Empire employees and customers.
  • Establishes annual objectives for the ETI; ensure that they are communicated to the staff and achieved.
  • Ensures that the ETI is prepared to develop and deliver the curriculum that is identified through Technician assessments and evaluations; work together to adjust training curriculum and delivery schedule to maximize successful training objectives each year.
  • Manage trainers to ensure that actions and work are on target to meet the objectives of their positions.
  • Cooperate with Safety department to ensure the curriculum is available to meet needs for both compliance and prevention safety training.
  • Develops and publishes training curriculum schedule ensuring accuracy as well as efficient and timely distribution.
  • Evaluates external training programs for possible internal use.
  • Implements and assesses the success of the Caterpillars Technician Development programs throughout the company using pre and posttest methodology.
  • Prepare and present an annual training strategy for Leadership to communicate future direction challenges and needs with periodic updates throughout the year.
  • Create an environment of ownership and personal accountability where each person is responsible and accountable for their performance.
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies procedures and standards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage use of the Learning Management System (LMS) system and training curriculum access for metrics to measure training results.
  • Advise and discuss with appropriate departments issues inhibiting ETI from operating effectively.
  • Maintains an adequate updated library of technical general and employee development reference materials.
  • Maintains a complete course description and lesson plan for all training classes.
  • Works within and promotes corporate values.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable in the overall scope of Caterpillar Inc. its products the dealer network function and roles.
  • Indepth knowledge of the dealership departments service parts sales etc.
  • Strong team building skills including ability to lead train cooperate and contribute as part of a team.
  • Ability to analyze performance problems and goal analysis.
  • Ability to prepare instructional objectives including conducting needs analyses making decisions on curriculum and delivery methods and measuring instructional results.
  • Excellent organizational interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum 8 years experience in the delivery of technical instruction including management of instructor staff and assets.
  • Certified NACD instructor / Manager; experience delivering and managing training programs supervisory experience.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak read comprehend write) in English.
