Job Summary
Shift: 4th ShiftJob Description
Operates arc and gas welders on a wide variety of metals and their alloys requiring allposition welding. Includes torch and induction brazing and welding on commercial and military fabrications involving critical safety and load requirements. Requires ability to plan layout and perform diversified fabrication work on all company products. Requires certification to qualified procedures in accordance with MILSTD 248 ASME Section IX or other code compliance specified by customer contracts (see section 11(e)). Must determine proper machine settings gas and filler selections for particular base metal and process applications as well as ensuring compliance to all variables and instructions established within welding procedures. Regulates heat and may select electrodes tips and rods. Works from specifications drawings prints and welding symbols. Ten thousand (10000) hours experience required to become familiar with trade. Performs other jobs as designated by the supervisor in the same salary grade or below. In filling vacancies senior employees shall be given the preference provided they possess the necessary qualification. This position is deemed to require special skills and experience which cannot be fulfilled by persons not possessing such skill or experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires experience in welding methods and techniques material characteristics and fitup procedures as may be acquired through two (2) years of vocational welding or high school supplemented by formal onthejob training or equivalent in welding practices.
Employee must complete six thousand (6000) hours worked as a B Welder. The six thousand (6000) hour requirement may be waived by the Company if the employee can satisfy all other criteria.
Employee must demonstrate the ability to satisfactorily perform the functions of the Welder A classification and meet all applicable certifications and procedures as required by the individual department.
These include the following:
One inch flat
Copper
Aluminum
Stainless steel
Arc welding (including MIG) on a wide variety of metals and their alloys requiring all position welding to code or other work involving critical safety and load requirements.
Gas welding on a wide variety of metals and their alloys. Includes torch brazing and welding to code or other work involving critical safety and load requirements.
Ability to plan layout and perform diversified work on all company products as required by the individual department.
Work from specifications drawings prints and welding symbols.
Regulates heat and selects electrodes tips and rods.
Ability to safely handle all of the departments work.
Works with minimum supervision.
Must be a sole US citizen.
