We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Equalities & Inclusion Officer to work with colleagues from the Cohesion Prevent and Community Safety Teams. This is an opportunity for a skilled and experienced officer to lead work that contributes to our work on Cohesion in Birmingham. So do you want to help us make our cohesion approach a success

The Role & What We Are Looking For

The role will provide support to team colleagues in development of and progression of cohesion focussed work across the city. An ideal opportunity for an ambitious and decisive individual who has:

  • Experience of working collaboratively (and leading) with colleagues from across a range of organisations to develop joint solutions to complex issues
  • Our ideal candidate will also demonstrate different types of communication skills and empathy as well as being selfsufficient and flexible in addressing equally important priorities at pace
  • A working understanding and experience in project development principles and management data monitoring community engagement with diverse communities along with effective IT skills
  • Experience of at least one from the following: writing briefing notes report writing bid submissions procurement or equality impact assessments
  • Is a good team player and can also own and drive their own performance with minimal supervision

You will be part of the City Operations Directorate which works with a wide range of stakeholders including internal Directorates other statutory and the third sector organisations including Faith based or faith inspired organisations and most importantly members of the public and local communities providing residents with services 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year including:

  • Community safety & resilience criminal justice and cohesion
  • Public protection and licensing
  • Highways and parking
  • Waste services.
  • Coroners and registration services
  • Parks culture sport and leisure services
  • Events and community engagement and participation including business improvement and ward forums.
