The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill a Maintenance Generalist SubJourney 2 position located at the McLaughlin Youth Center.


What You Will Be Doing

This position is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the McLaughlin Youth Center (MYC) grounds and exterior evacuation routes throughout the year. Responsibilities include but are not limited to lawn and garden care parking lot and driveway maintenance and the upkeep of sidewalks and streets during both summer and winter seasons.


The role involves routine landscaping activities such as planting watering fertilizing pruning and caring for shrubs trees and other landscape elements to maintain a clean and attractive environment for the grounds. During winter months duties include snow plowing snow removal snow blowing shoveling sweeping sanding and salting sidewalks and driving surfaces. Additionally the position entails repairing and maintaining equipment such as irrigation systems snow removal tools and groundskeeping machinery to ensure optimal operational performance.


This position also provides support to Maintenance Technicians with facility repairs as needed.

The Working Environment You Can Expect

This position is located within the McLaughlin Youth Center which is a 24hour secure facility located at 2600 Providence Drive in Anchorage. This is a fulltime position with work hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through includes a lunch period from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm. You may also be required to travel periodically to provide facility support at our Palmer and Kenai locations.
