4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in position involving geology or hydrology engineering chemistry physics biology environmental science &/or other comparable physical or health science field earth science &/or urban & regional planning experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
Or baccalaureate degree in engineering chemistry physics biology environmental science earth science &/or urban & regional planning geology or other comparable physical or health science field.
Or positions involved in providing financial technical & administrative assistance for planning design & implementation of environmental infrastructure & pollution abatement & prevention projects applicants must have completed undergraduate core coursework in business/public administration public relations/marketing political science or communications or have 4 yrs. exp. in position involving public contact to explain policies procedures & programs of agency writing of promotional &/or explanatory publications & materials budgeting contract administration & working with others on team projects. Note: For all positions engaged in field work applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in EPAs solid waste program excluding those in the solid waste planning unit must obtain a sanitarianintraining certificate during their probationary period.

What we need YOU to do:
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Drinking and Ground Water (DDAGW) at our central office in Columbus.
Lets get into it!
As DDAGWs newest environmental specialist you will implement water and wastewater operator certification programs within the division coordinating operator certification activities with the Operator Certification Advisory Council the Division of Surface Water (DSW) and other agencies. Youll assist in drafting and developing statewide guidelines policies and procedures to ensure consistent implementation of operator certification programs for public drinking water systems and wastewater works. Youll also assist in reviewing applications for eligibility for certification as a professional operator revising preparing validating scheduling and conducting examinations for the water and wastewater operator certification programs.
Youll track continuing education training and other requirements for renewing professional operator certificates reviewing and evaluating certification renewal applications. Youll serve as a technical consultant and resource person to engineers operators governmental officials and private firms regarding laws regulations practices and procedures for professional operator certification and technical issues. This involves participating in meetings conferences and training courses as needed.
Additionally youll get to conduct special drinking water and wastewater projects maintain technical knowledge through site visits training and more. Youll also draft reports program evaluations guidance documents manuals and compliance assessments.

Review and evaluate applications for eligibility for certification as a professional operator.
Coordinate operator certification activities with the Operator Certification Advisory Council DSW and other agencies to ensure compliance with program standards.
Assist in drafting and developing statewide guidelines policies and procedures to ensure consistent implementation of the professional operator certification program.
Maintain the tracking of continuing education training and other requirements for renewal of professional operator certificates.
Serve as technical consultant and resource person to engineers operators government officials and private firms regarding laws regulations practices and procedures for professional operator certification and technical issues.
Perform other duties as required.
