Summary of Duties
Sunnybrook Centre for Independent Living (SCIL) is currently looking for a Student Prosthetic Technician to join our team to provide the highest level of patient care to a diverse and wide range of adult amputees primarily in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). As a Sunnybrook team member we offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
As a member of a multidisciplinary team the Student Prosthetic Technician will work in conjunction with our Registered Prosthetic Technicians to assist with the manufacturing and/ or repair of prosthetic appliances. They should be familiar with common prosthetic applications and processes as well as knowledgeable in material management.
Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Assisting the Prosthetic Technicians
- Thermoforming and lamination prosthetic devices
- Repair and service various types of prosthetic devices
- Handling tools and machinery commonly used in the prosthetic field
- Workshop care and maintenance
Qualifications/Skills:
- Prosthetic Technician
- Enrolled in (or recently completed) a recognised Prosthetic Orthotic program
- Demonstrated manual dexterity skills for technical work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Work safely using appropriate PPE and safe working practices
- Must be able to work efficiently in a team environment
- Ability to effectively problemsolve technical issues
