JOB DESCRIPTION

Star of the Sea Catholic School is seeking a faithfilled energetic and enthusiastic educator to join our vibrant school community as a Grade 2 Classroom Teacher for the school year.

Grade 2 is a special and formative year in a childs educational and spiritual journey. In addition to providing a solid foundation in academic skills the Grade Two teacher plays a vital role in preparing students for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. The successful candidate will embrace this sacred responsibility with joy seeing it as an opportunity to lead young hearts closer to Jesus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging developmentally appropriate lessons in all core subject areas based on the BC Curriculum.
  • Integrate faith formation throughout the day using the CISVA Religious Education Curriculum and the Finding God program.
  • Prepare students for and guide them through the reception of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in collaboration with the parish and school team.
  • Create a positive respectful and inclusive classroom environment that supports students spiritual academic and socialemotional growth.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and caregivers.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members and support professionals as part of a dedicated and missiondriven team.
  • Participate in school Masses special events and communitybuilding initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate.
  • Committed practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church with a clear understanding of and love for Catholic education.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement effective instruction for young learners.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Warm nurturing presence and a deep desire to see children grow in both faith and knowledge.
