The Cultural Navigator will walk alongside placebased Service teams providing specialist advice to support the delivery of Culturally safe services to clients and develop Culturally responsive practitioners. They will engage consultatively with Community and share knowledge and insights with Service teams to ensure that the Cultural identities contexts and protocols of place are understood acknowledged and celebrated. This role will also develop strong partnerships and relationships with Aboriginal Community members and groups and will work effectively with other Services and stakeholders to help to remove any barriers for Aboriginal people accessing our services to thrive.

This is a part time (18.75 hours per week) 2year contract with ongoing possibility.



Skills And Experiences

What you will bring

You are a passionate individual with strong community relationships and a desire to challenge the barriers to thriving experienced by Aboriginal people in Albany.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act)
  • Hold a qualification in (or working towards) Community Development Aboriginal Studies Social Work or related discipline or relevant experience
  • Have extensive knowledge of issues impacting on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and communities and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Have demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal individuals families and communities from a strengthbased culturally appropriate perspective
  • Have demonstrated knowledge and experience engaging and consulting with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities ideally in a Community Service or Community Liaison related role.
  • Have experience in creation and implementation of Cultural Awareness programs activities resources and/or training initiatives
  • Have effective time management skills with a track record of delivering highquality results amidst competing priorities
  • Have high level interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including peers employees external organisations funding bodies and government agencies.

The successful candidate must also possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year WA Working with Children Check and WA Drivers Licence.

  • A competitive salary from $96088per annum 11.5% superannuation (pro rata for part time)
  • Salary packaging of up to $15900 (which equates to circa $4K after tax) plus additional salary packaging of up to $2650 for meal and entertainment expenses
