The Division of Family & Community Services is seeking to hire an energetic and detailoriented manager to supervise staff in the ABE Call Center. The position supervises and administers the activities of professional and technical staff providing the full range of social and welfare casework services to applicants or recipients of public assistance. The Division helps Illinois residents by connecting them with many programs and services. Through our programs services and prevention efforts the Division improves the health and wellbeing of individuals and promotes selfsufficiency and integrity of families of Illinois.
Serves as a Casework Manager for the Division of Family and Community Services (FCS).
Serves as a working supervisor.
Provides training and technical assistance to assigned staff.
Reviews and evaluates reports of casework activities.
Translates functions/procedures into Spanish for individuals who cannot speak or read English in contacts with the general public advocacy groups customers and community organizations.
Establishes and maintains effective public relations with employers and community partners in the local area served.
Implements and interprets new initiatives related to welfare policy.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college with courses in social science or business.
Requires two (2) years professional supervisory experience in a public welfare agency; OR three (3) years professional experience in welfare teaching public health or other public services; OR completion of an agencysponsored management internship program.
Requires ability to speak read and write Spanish at a colloquial level.
Three (3) years of professional experience utilizing policies procedures and goals of public assistance programs and welfare reform.
Three (3) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work providing guidance to subordinates recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements training staff and approving time off.
Three (3) years of professional experience utilizing social casework methods techniques and principles including reviewing and evaluating casework activities.
Three (3) years of professional experience working with policies procedures and related federal acts for a public or private organization.
Three (3) years of professional experience in a public assistance eligibility system such as Integrated Eligibility Systems (IES).
Two (2) years of professional experience establishing and maintaining effective public relations with employers and other interested parties in the local area served.
Requires basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate.
