Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: The Security and Fire Systems Technician is responsible for performing skilled security technician work in the installation service troubleshooting alternation and programming of all security related systems. This individual must have a solid background in Access Control CCTV and intrusion detection and Fire Alarms.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform service/installation of access control intrusion alarm closed circuit television systems and other various security related systems.
  • Evaluate diagnose troubleshoot and perform repairs as necessary.
  • Perform upgrades and additions to systems to increase functionality utilization.
  • Perform computer program entry as required to add CCTV cameras access control and intrusion alarm systems as needed.
  • Prepare documentation in a variety of written and electronic for the purpose of providing written support in compliance with regulations and/or conveying information.
  • Responsible for reading and understanding technical drawings assigned project documentation and work orders including scope of work and determine if additional information is needed.
  • Maintain accurate truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Exhibit effective customer service skills by consistently communicating with Project Manager Vice President of Technical Operations ESS Operations and customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction experience.
  • Must be available for scheduled oncall to respond to afterhours emergency service calls.
  • Must be able to travel (approximately 50% 75% of the time) to remote US locations.
  • May be required to lift/move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 lbs. and work from ladders or man lifts at extended heights.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including attending training classes when offered.

JOB SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
  • 5 years of low voltage security experience (required).
  • Texas Fire Alarm License (required).
  • Experience in Access Control systems and/or CCTV.
  • Must have knowledge of equipment materials methods practices and tools used in the Electronic Security Technician field including multimeter usage and must possess hand tools.
  • Possess or ability to obtain knowledge of NFPA State and local fire codes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances. Secret or higher security clearance is preferred.
  • Must have a working knowledge and comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Completion of the OSHA 10 or higher training course is preferred.
  • Must be a selfstarter team player detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and driving history must meet company standards throughout employment.
  • Must be able to pass a preemployment drug screening and a background check as a condition of employment and to obtain access to federal installations.

Employee will occasionally work in tight or confined space. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This job may be performed in a shop setting various buildings and out of doors. The employee will drive from job to job which may include several hours of driving per day. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to extreme.
