Job Description

POSITION: Dining Hall Cook (Full Time Non Exempt Hourly)

DIRECT REPORT: Community Manager

SUMMARY: The Dining Hall Cook is responsible for cooking and preparing food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety food handling and sanitation procedures. The Dining Hall Cook should safely handle knives and equipment such as grills fryers ovens broilers etc. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by location based on client requirements and business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but not limited to):

  • Participates in Cardinal U training as required.
  • Cooks and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
  • Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment.
  • Prepares ingredients by measuring weighing mixing chopping trimming and peeling food items.
  • Safely utilizes a variety of utensils including knifes.
  • Operates equipment such as ovens stoves slicers mixers etc.
  • Bakes roasts broils steams and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat vegetables and other foods.
  • Arranges garnishes and portions food according to established guidelines.
  • Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas equipment and utensils.
  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards everyone.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation.
  • Ensures security of company assets.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by Community Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness to assist with additional tasks if/when the need arises.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player and respect those you work with.
  • Ability to embrace change and new ideas.
  • Ability to embody the Cardinal Culture and Cardinal Core Values every day.
  • Requires occasional lifting carrying pushing pulling of up to 25 lbs.
  • Proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation various cooking methods and food safety regulations such as proper food handling sanitation and storage.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This role routinely operates in a kitchen/dining hall environment inclusive of the tools utensils and temperature extremes consistent with such.

While performing the duties of this job the Team Member is regularly required to use hands to finger type handle or feel and talk or hear. The Team Member is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop or squat. The Team Member is often required to sit. The Team Member must be able to push pull lift carry or maneuver office products and supplies of up to twenty five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
