College of Arts Humanities and Social Science/School of Philosophy Psychology and Language Sciences


Part time: 28 hours per week (0.8 FTE)

Fixed Term: 24 months August 2025 July 2027

The School of Philosophy Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow on a part time (0.8FTE) fixed termcontract into the Department of Philosophy. This post will be available until 31st of July 2027 with a preferred start date of early August 2025.

Area of Competence:Philosophy of Technology or Metaphysics

The University of Edinburgh Philosophy Department seeks to appoint a Teaching Fellow. The post holder will contribute to theteaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level and will contribute to the intellectual environment of the School as well as to postgraduate education in the Edinburgh Futures Institute.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A postgraduate degree in Philosophy with relevant postgraduate research and/or teaching experience (certificate in hand or has successfully defended VIVA prior to appointment).
  • Experience in design and delivery of effective undergraduate university teaching and supervision.
  • Research experience in Metaphysics or Philosophy of Technology.
  • Proven ability to manage time and to work to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
