Our Integrated Family Support Services (IFSS) program provides outreach support to enhance parenting skills and improve the wellbeing and safety of children. This is a voluntary service and referrals may come through from other services or directly from parents or guardians wishing to access extra support.
We are seeking a dynamic and professional people person to join our IFSS team as a Family Support Worker. You will be responsible for managing monitoring and prioritising families on your caseload which includes providing a range of developmental services to families assisting in the protection of atrisk children engaged in the program and identifying with families where referrals are required to support families in meeting their identified goals.
You will be responsible for the following:
Provide relevant information to the client and their families about the program at the time of referral
Support clients with selfimprovement building resilience and developing life skills.
Assess the family function parenting capacity and the developmental levels of infants children and adolescents
Ensure children are safe and levels of risk are being monitored
Refer families to appropriate follow up and longterm services as needed
To be successful you will demonstrate the following:
Degree or Diploma in Social Work or similar field with 35 years relevant experience
Demonstrated ability to work with 018 year olds and families with an understanding of child and adolescent development
Understanding of the relevant Acts Regulations and policies associated with working with children and families at risk
Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness family violence alcohol and other drugs mental health issues child development/milestones
Demonstrated understanding of traumainformed practice
Personal resilience along with flexibility passion and purpose
A calm and reassuring manner that enhances a safe environment
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills engaging with families
Excellent listening skills with ability to quickly assess and respond to risks
Demonstrated ability to show initiative prioritise and problem solve in difficult situations
