Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Security Engineer to work on our Security Engineering team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Research and Education Campus with every other Friday off.
You will be responsible for applying engineering principles and concepts to design and develop security systems applications of intrusion detection access control and video surveillance within the DOE complex. You will report to the manager of the Security Engineering department.
Responsibilities:
- Construct drawings/sketches utilizing electronics principles voltage/current load calculations circuitry and communications.
- Be responsible for system and functionality in its entirety to include requirements engineering design installation testing and maintenance.
- Technical application for security systems including intrusion detection systems and devices access control systems and devices and video surveillance systems and devices.
- Determine engineering approach for solving problems and meeting customer needs.
- Apply Electrical and Electronic Engineering principles for preparing releasable drawings calculations and specifications for design construction maintenance and D&D associated with security and alarms systems in Nuclear and General Industrial Plant Facilities and Processes associated with Security Systems equipment.
- Write detailed work procedures for the installation and maintenance of all Security Equipment.
- Participate in engineering and design committees for security areas and facilities.
- Establish parameters and requirements for design and purchase of new physical security equipment.
- Perform detailed assessments of security systems to determine the vulnerability of assets to potential theft or sabotage by adversaries.
- Evaluate and select equipment and develop procedures and testing requirements for Physical Security Systems.
- Prepare Central Alarm Station software programming packages.
- Provide solutions to highly complex problems dealing with all intrusion detection video assessment and access control installations modifications and maintenance activities.
- Plan preventive maintenance corrective maintenance and limited scope system modification and installation work orders conforming to all INL standards and requirements.
- Provide expertise during installation modification preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance services on all security systems and equipment.

Minimum Requirements:
- Level 1: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technical Discipline in security system design and analysis electrical/electronics.
- Level 2: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technical Discipline in security system design and analysis electrical/electronics and 2 years of experience or an advanced degree in the same fields of study.
- Experience in electronics field.
- Knowledgeable in electronics theory.
- Knowledgeable in serial and TCP/IP communications.
- Background in security system design and analysis electrical/electronics fiber optics data acquisition systems and instrumentation and controls.
- Demonstrated experience in providing leadership strategic and tactical planning and overall leadership and execution of large complex and technically challenging programs requiring multidisciplinary integration across multiple organizations.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q level security clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification which requires US Citizenship.

- The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($) / Level 2: ($65064 $133416). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education relevant experience and other credentials.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this classification the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit stoop kneel bend and work in an office and field/laboratory environment.
