Job Description
Division: Group Business Solutions (GBS)
Euroclear UK and International (EUI) is embarking on an exciting multiyear business transformation programme with technology change at its heart. Group Business Solutions (GBS) is the Euroclear entity that provides technology delivery services to EUI and is currently in the early stages of delivering a modern Java microservicebased implementation to replace the existing platform. The new platform will utilise Kafka Docker and Kubernetes under the management of the OpenShift container platform and will adhere to the strategy of developing cloudready microservices suitable for a potential future migration to the public cloud.
GBS seeks a talented Java Technical Lead to help drive highquality technical solutions whilst mentoring and developing more junior team members.
Responsibilities:
- Contributing to the creation of a new team of IT professionals and providing technical leadership
- Leading delivery of a coherent endtoend IT solution that meets both functional and nonfunctional requirements
- Working as part of an Agile development team to deliver the migration of the legacy application to a new eventbased and serviceoriented architecture solution working in collaboration with the Solution Architect Engineering Lead and other stakeholders
- Ensuring that the IT solution complies with the Enterprise engineering and architecture standards.
- Ensuring endtoend consistency of solution delivery across platforms and teams by for instance organising walkthroughs of the solution with delivery teams.
- Ensuring that the solution meets guidelines and standards for design and development
- Undertaking handson development and providing technical guidance coaching and mentoring to your team members
- Potential for line management
Qualifications
Crucial Candidate Traits:
The successful candidate will have previously performed a technical lead role and have strong demonstrable solutions design and development skills.
Technical Skills:
The successful candidate will have strong handson experience of:
- Core Java development (at least 7 years of industry experience) and common frameworks such as Spring Boot
- Developing services/microservices in Java
- Event driven architecture and messaging technologies (Kafka MQ)
- Container technologies (Docker Kubernetes )
- ObjectOriented design
- Developing and deploying on Unix or Linux
- Profiling and performance tuning
- Testing tools and frameworks (JUnit Mockito Cucumber etc.)
- Agile methodologies (Scrum Kanban etc.)
- Database technologies (SQL NoSQL etc.)
Soft Skills:
- Strong technical leadership and organisational skills.
- Strong interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills.
- Effective and creative problemsolving skills with the ability to resolve issues or identify the correct internal resources to assist.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- A willingness to learn and share knowledge.
- A resultsoriented and cando attitude and able to work against tight deadlines.
- A passion for innovation and technology.
Nicetohave:
The following are not essential but would be a plus if the candidate can demonstrate any experience of:
- Database design skills in technologies such as Oracle
- Hibernate
- Splunk
- DevOps principles processes and tooling
- IBM MQ
- Angular
- Messaging Standards for example ISO 15022 ISO 20022 and JSON
- Working in Financial Services or other regulated environment
- Line management
