The Senior Research Assistant at Brown Universitys School of Public Health offers an exciting opportunity to work directly with Distinguished Senior Fellows in our D.C. office supporting research and projects that shape public health policy and practice.
In this DCbased role youll be at the center of public health research and policy work. Youll collect and analyze data conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings to inform key initiatives. Beyond research youll help shape the conversation by developing compelling reports presentations and briefings. Youll also coordinate highprofile meetings and events ensuring seamless collaboration among key stakeholders. The Senior Research Assistant joins a vibrant team supporting the activities of the School of Public Healths office in Washington DC. This role will support nonlaboratory research addressing ongoing and emerging public health challenges including pandemic preparedness and response global health security health policy health equity misinformation climate change and health and comparative health systems research. The Senior Research Assistant will work closely with multiple faculty members and other research team members on projectrelated tasks and initiatives including a wide range of research activities engagement with internal and external partners and coordinating and supporting events at the Schools Washington DC office. These activities will include data collection literature reviews and synthesis maintaining project materials event and meeting management coordinating project materials and developing creative products (e.g. reports opeds speeches presentations and briefings). To complete work under nominal direction the Senior Research Assistant will use a variety of scientific word processing spreadsheet or statistical software applications. The Senior Research Assistant will also perform additional related tasks as deemed necessary.
While this is a remote position the Research Assistant will be expected to work remotely and regularly onsite from the Schools Washington DC Office. Work activities may be performed independently and/or without direct supervision in an on or offsite location. The Research Assistant will be expected to perform tasks independently. National and international travel may be required.
This is a fixed term position with an end date of June 30 2026 which may be extended based upon available funding. All offers of employment are contingent upon a criminal background check and education verification satisfactory to Brown University. Job Qualifications:
Education
Bachelors degree (BA or BS) with 35 years of experience in health services research (or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Coursework in related fields can substitute for experience.
Experience with health policy policy research and analysis
Job Competencies:
Ability to set goals and work independently to manage both short and longterm responsibilities
Flexibility to adapt to changing work conditions
Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills
Computer skills (word processing data management Power Point reference manager)
Selfreliant organized flexible and able to prioritize multiple research activities
Strong written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated experience in preparing and analyzing data and figures.
Proficiency analytic software including but not limited to Excel and R
Possess a willingness and ability to support diverse and inclusive environment
