Job Description
Rate: $18.09 hourly not to exceed 28 hours weekly
GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION
Enforce the city codes and ordinances pertaining to residential and commercial properties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Shall perform regularly scheduled nonscheduled specific and emergency inspections of residential and commercial properties to determine compliance with Citys property maintenance codes and City ordinances
- Shall issue notices and court summonses pertaining to code and ordinance violations and represent the City on said court issues.
- May perform residential occupancy inspections.
- Other duties as requested
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Must be capable of reading and interpreting ordinances and codes.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing to property owners City personnel the courts and the general public.
- Must be able to use a personal computer iPad smart phone copier scientific calculator FAX video conferencing tools electrical tester and miscellaneous measuring devices.

- Majority of work is performed in the field and some work is performed in office.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is usually required to drive see stand walk use hands to finger handle feel or operate objects tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is required to sit climb or balance stoop kneel crouch crawl talk hear and smell.
- The employee must be able to safely drive an automobile.
- The employee must be capable of lifting and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Education and Experience
Applicant must have graduated from High School or equivalent. Three years experience and progressive responsibility in construction building trades and code enforcement are preferred. Advanced formal certification in the locally enforced building electrical mechanical plumbing and fire codes is desirable. Valid drivers license is required.
