Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Delta Township Assembly on a fulltime basis.

The Role:

The Business Manager will support the effective use of personnel material and equipment and participate in training and developing of salaried and hourly employees and in the development of highly effective teams. This position will also support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as a resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas while helping to meet or exceed production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements. The selected candidate MUST be able to work rotating shifts.

What Youll Do (Responsibilities):

• Maintain awareness of quality standards and communicate department quality goals and leverages resources to solve quality issues.

• Build and maintain good working relationships with employees union and management and understand to consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union.

• Implement and follow systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues.

• Responsible for the effective use of personnel material and equipment.

• Participate in the selection of new employees and trains develops and evaluates salaried and hourly employees and the development of highly effective teams.

• Leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as lead resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas.

• Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.

• Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics health and safety and housekeeping.

• Motivates trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods.

• Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training).

• Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction control costs and achieve productivity improvements.

• Coach teach counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

• 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment

• Ability to work rotating shifts

• Ability to work overtime as needed

• Demonstrate the ability to be result oriented

• Manpower/resource management experience

• Production operations experience

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

• 3 years of manufacturing experience

• Experience working with the UAW

• Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience

• Bachelors degree
