Job Description
Paraway Pastoral Company is seeking a dedicated and experienced Stud Overseer to join our team at Pooginook Station. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in Merino sheep operations leadership capabilities and a passion for genetic advancement and animal welfare.
As the Stud Overseer youll work closely with the Station Manager to lead a small highperforming team and oversee all daytoday operations of the Merino stud. Your primary focus will be driving genetic progress through excellent stock management accurate data collection and the implementation of bestpractice husbandry techniques.
In the absence of the Station Manager you will work collaboratively with the Property Operations Overseer to ensure the station continues to run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead animal husbandry operations to ensure high welfare and production standards
- Supervise accurate and timely data collection using Stockbook Trutest and Excel
- Maintain and update livestock records in AgriWebb
- Implement company livestock chemical handling and biosecurity policies
- Support environmental sustainability through pasture management and pest control
- Help develop work programs and lead train and mentor staff effectively
- Enforce safety protocols and promote a culture of WHS compliance
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with ram clients classers and industry representatives
- Represent Paraway professionally at industry and community events
What Youll Bring
- Proven Merino sheep husbandry and stud management experience
- Strong data management skills particularly with Stockbook Excel and Trutest systems
- A skilled and reliable team of working dogs
- Excellent communication planning and people leadership skills
- Strong understanding of genetic improvement stud sales and industry benchmarks
- Ability to uphold Paraways standards in safety welfare and compliance

Pooginook is centrally located to the major centres of Griffith (approx. 1hr) and Wagga Wagga (approx. 2hr) and conveniently located 14kms from Coleambally with a school bus to the front gate to preschool primary and high schools. Coleambally is a proactive community with many businesses in town along with a wellsupported sporting and social culture offering a variety of activities with excellent facilities.
The position is a live on station role with accommodation in a freshly refurbished 4bedroom house and utilities provided for family couple or single applicants.
Paraway supports a diverse workforce and encourages applications from people of all backgrounds. This role is open only to candidates with permanent Australian work rights. All successful candidates will be required to undergo background screening and be fully vaccinated for Q Fever.
