The Manitoba Mtis Federation(MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Mtisalso known as the Manitoba Mtis. The Red River Mtis are a distinct IndigenousNation and People and Canadas Negotiating Partners in Confederation and theFounders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill onefulltime Assistant Manager position within our Michif Manor locatedat 800 Notre Dame Ave in Winnipeg MB. The Assistant Managersupports the General Manager in overseeing Michif Manors daily operations includingplanning execution and management in alignment with best practices all relevantregulations and legislation and the Manitoba Mtis Federations mission andobjectives. Michif Manoroperates 24/7 therefore the incumbent must be flexibleand available to work various shifts including evenings and weekends.
Job Duties/Competencies:
Maintain and monitor overall Michif Manoroperations ensuring that all functions are carried out according to establishedprocedures and guidelines;
Supervises checkin and checkout process inaccordance with Michif Manor procedures;
When necessary and if no evening or weekendmanager is available cover the shift or find a suitable designate;
Interact with Michif Manor guests dailyrespond to their needs and enforce operational rules when necessary;
Keep the General Manager apprised of guestsituations suggestions and/or problems;
Assist in providing tours of Michif Manor topotential donors or supporters while keeping guests comfortable with privacy inmind;
Ensure that the cleanliness repair andgeneral upkeep of the building and grounds is completed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Postsecondary education in ManagementBusiness Administration Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related field. Acombination of relevant training and experiences may also be considered;
Minimum of 2 years experience in a management orleadership role ideally within a notforprofit organization;
Proven experience in hospitality or lodgingenvironments event planning and coordination with strong interpersonalorganizational and time management skills;
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively withemployees volunteers and guests;
First Aid Certification (Basic with CPR &AED) is an asset;
Experience working for a notforprofitorganization and Indigenous communities is an asset;
Knowledge of Red River Mtis culture and MMFprograms and services is a definite asset; and
Abilityto travel valid Manitoba Drivers license with access to a reliable vehicle.
