Description

ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acutecare facilities in the region. Our 794bed hospital is staffed by more than 4800 professional healthcare employees who serve a 27county area throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. We also have the areas largest boardcertified medical staff which is made up of more than 1000 primary care and specialty physicians. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment are a must. In addition for 15 consecutive years residents of Greater Toledo have named us the Consumer Choice Award winner in our market. In fact were the only hospital in northwest Ohio to receive this honor.

Our Security Department under general supervision maintains the security of hospital property to ensure the safety of employees patients and visitors against fire theft and physical harm.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*

1. Provides security for all ProMedica properties employees patients and visitors by patrolling assigned areas and acting when necessary. Monitoring conduct of visitors on ProMedica properties; questioning suspicious individuals when necessary.

2. Assists employees staff patients and visitors. Must always promote customer service and satisfaction treating all people in a courteous and professional manner.

3. Must adhere to all policies procedures objectives and safety standards.

4. Regulates and controls all vehicular and pedestrian traffic providing parking enforcement and traffic control when necessary.

5. Investigates and reports all accidents safety/fire hazards and incidents involving loss theft damage injury and recovered property. Prepares appropriate reports to document these incidents.

6. Must successfully complete all training required by ProMedica Health Systems and/or ProMedica Security Services as defined in organizational policies procedures or by assignment. Must remain current in any certifications and knowledgeable in infection control and hazardous material measures. Must maintain annual fit testing requirements CPR certification and all other inservices required by JCAHO. Must maintain IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification once received.

7. Must maintain knowledge of all equipment procedures and ensure that all issued equipment remains in serviceable and operational condition.

8. Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities.

9. Unlocks vehicles and provides basic vehicle maintenance or assistance such as jumpstarts and air in tires.

10. Provides escorts to personnel as needed.

11. Secures found items and valuables completing appropriate documents to ensure their successful disposition within the system.

12. Assists with the restraint of combative patients as needed. Provides observation for patients as needed.

13. Must be able to run Law Enforcement Automated Data System inquiries.

14. Attends meetings as required.

15. Performs other duties as assigned.



Requirements

Education: High School diploma or GED

Skills: Must have the ability to work with diverse populations and possess exceptional interpersonal skills. Must have effective oral and written skills.

License: Requires a valid drivers license and a clean driving record as demonstrated by an MVR (motor vehicle record) to be covered under the Companys insurance policy.

Certification:

Must complete the Basic Security Officer Certification through IAHSS within six (6) months of employment.

Must have a clean criminal record to be able to be LEADS (Law Enforcement Automated Data System) certified.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Personal Protective Equipment: Body Armor available upon request.

Physical Demands: Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods. Must be able to frequently move lift or carry mediumweight materials or objects and with assistance occasionally move very heavy patients or individuals.
