The purpose of this position is to support with oversight of monthly accounting records journal entries and management of accounting staff while abiding by GAAP guidelines. .
JobSpecific Functions
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting department including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and financial reporting.
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Manage monthend and yearend close processes including preparation of financial statements and analysis of data in accordance with GAAP ensuring monthend close is completed by the 15th of each month.
- Monitor cash flow budgeting and forecasting to support strategic decisionmaking and business growth.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to streamline processes improve efficiency and drive profitability.
- Prepare monthend reporting and ad hoc reporting and analysis for management and department heads.
- Perform Revenue Recognition.
- Review journal entries and reconciliations.
- Manage and train accounting staff.
- Timely run payroll.
- Maintain fixed assets capital improvements and intangibles.
- Assist with liability insurance renewals.
- Monitor internal control procedures.
- Lead audit and prepare selections and workpapers for audit team.
- Oversee the interviewing hiring training planning assigning directing managing performance and resolving problems for the staffing of the accounting department.
- Provide recommendations for enhancing office operational efficiencies.
- Complete annual budget preparation and grant budget preparations.
- Participate in Thrive Hub trainings as required.
- Participate as a member of Senior Leadership Team and serves on Annual Training Team.
- Assist with special projects as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting.
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements preferably within the nonprofit industry.
Preferred Experience
- CPA designation preferred.
- Masters Degree preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft products.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence decisionmaking.
Additional Requirements
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends as needed.
- Must have reliable transportation or be able to secure transportation for travel as needed.
- Must have a valid SC drivers license minimum state auto insurance and the ability to travel to multiple worksites in SC.
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with SC Thrive policy.
- Must have consistent secure highspeed internet access that is at least 25 Mbps download and 4 Mbps upload and meets SC Thrives standards.
