Job Description20% Responsible for all communications public relations and official correspondence on behalf of the University of Kansas Student Senate.
20% Responsible for maintaining the Student Senate social media accounts and website.
20% Responsible for distributing news releases to local media sources to individuals organizations and businesses with pertinent Student Senate news as well as monitoring coverage of senate in local media sources.
15% Responsible for creating and maintaining a calendar on the Student Senate website with all publicly available Student Senate council committee board and other relevant meetings and events sent to the Public Relations Director via email.
10% Create and/or approve all Student Senate logos and branding directions.
10% Work with the Student Outreach Director to support them through social media and official communications to student organizations.
5% Be responsible for other tasks as may be assigned by the Student Senate Constitution the Student Body President the Student Executive Council or the Students Assembly.

Work Schedule15 hours per week; including a portion served in the Student Senate office between 8am and 9pm Monday through Friday.
Must be able to work Wednesday evenings 5pm10pm for Student Senate meetings.

- During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be preenrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Position OverviewThe University of Kansas Student Senate is the primary advocate for students on campus. As one of higher educations finest models of selfgovernance 65 senators and 10 executive staff members work together to allocate about $25 million in student fees in ways that best serve students. Student Senate also represents the KU student voice within University State and National Governance working to address and develop policy in students best interests.
