Job Description:

JOB DUTIES: Assist Fisheries Division staff with field collections of fish community data (including the use of boat electrofishing backpack electrofishing trap nets and gill nets). Able to assist with age and growth collection and analysis. Assist with several ongoing research projects throughout the district. Assist with development design and implementation of aquatic habitat and angler enhancement projects. Repair and maintain sampling gear boats and trucks. Perform routine maintenance on fish barriers/screens. Perform vegetation treatments to improve angler access. Assist with stocking lakes and hatchery duties as needed. Compile import and analyze water quality habitat and fish data and create required reporting. Attend project meetings and training. Perform related duties as required.


Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 1 year experience OR 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management natural resources biology and/or agriculture.

Preferred Qualifications:15 semester hours or the equivalent of post high school coursework/training in fisheries management wildlife management natural resources and/or biology and 12 months experience in wildlife recreation or fisheries management. Drivers license required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: General knowledge of fisheries management techniques and common sportfish species in Nebraska. Good communication and public speaking skills; maintaining records; following instructions; ability to operate hand and power tools; be able to operate a pickup with trailer. Applicant will be required to apply for and obtain a Pesticide Applicator License
