Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor and Director of the Infectious Disease Pharmacokinetics Laboratory (IDPL)
Clinical Assistant Professor: Candidates for this rank shall hold the highest degree appropriate to their field or possess equivalent qualifications based on professional experience. Clinical Associate Professor: Candidates for this rank shall hold the highest degree appropriate to their field or possess professional qualifications above those equivalent to the highest degree relevant to their field. A candidate for this rank must have a distinguished record of achievement beyond the assistant professor level.
Clinical Professor: Candidates for this faculty rank shall be qualified for the rank of associate professor and in addition be a recognized national or international authority or an outstanding teacher in their field or specialization. The Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research PTR invites applications for a fulltime 1.0 FTE) 12month faculty position as a Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (nontenuretrack) to serve as Director of the Infectious Disease Pharmacokinetics Laboratory (IDPL) at the University of Florida. The IDPL is a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)accredited College of American Pathologist (CAP)licensed international reference clinical and research laboratory that provides therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical consults for serious infectious diseases including tuberculosis HIV and fungal infections. The candidate should have experience working in a CLIAcertified CAPaccredited laboratory focused on therapeutic drug monitoring particularly related to the treatment of tuberculosis HIV and fungal infections. Additionally candidates will have the opportunity to excel in teaching scholarship and clinical research.
Position responsibilities will include overseeing daily operations of the IDPL which include providing clinical services at UF Health as well as other sites across the US and Canada. The lab operates yearround MonFri. Required skills include interpreting LCMS/MS assay reports with a focus on quality control parameters and potential deviations from normal or interferences with detector response. All clinical reports generated in the lab (currently >11000 per year) must be reviewed and clinical recommendations provided. Clinical consultation phone calls and emails will require expert replies. The lab provides assay and pharmacokinetic (PK) support for ongoing preclinical and clinical research trials. In addition to reviewing assay results the Director will use PK analysis software to perform noncompartmental analyses (NCA) or population PK analyses. Familiarity with software programs such as Phoenix WinNonlin Monolix PMetrics and BestDose is necessary. The Director will oversee all personnel within the lab including hiring evaluations counseling accolades sick leave and vacation time. The Director will oversee all fiscal aspects of the lab including reviewing current invoices interacting with clients reviewing overdue payments and collections overseeing deposits and managing the budget. The Director in conjunction with the staff will oversee all equipment maintenance including preventive maintenance and repairs. The Director will oversee all safety protocols for the lab and collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety regarding hazardous waste removal chemical inventories use of personal protective equipment and the required annual training for staff and inspections for the lab. The Director will collaborate with infectious diseases clinical pharmacists and physicians at UF Health Shands Hospital to provide expertise and guidance on clinical protocols and patient care initiatives related to the therapeutic drug monitoring of antiinfective agents. Academic responsibilities will include didactic teaching within the PharmD program advising students and student organizations and actively participating in the Department and College.

Applicants should have a PharmD degree with relevant experience in the field of infectious disease.
Experience working in a CLIAaccredited (CAP)licensed clinical laboratory interpreting LCMS/MS assay reports and providing clinical consults in the area of infectious disease is essential. Applicants must also be eligible for Florida Pharmacy Licensure. An FDLE Criminal Background Check is required.
Previous participation in both preclinical and clinical research previous participation in a successful CAP lab Inspection.
Previous teaching experience evidence of scholarship experience in mentoring students and/or postgraduate trainees and prior experience working on NIHfunded or similar grants are preferred.
Previous experience in managing the fiscal aspects of a clinical laboratory including purchases review of invoices interacting with clients reviewing overdue payments and collections overseeing deposits and overall budget management.
ID/PK fellowship or equivalent training. At least two years of experience working in a CLIAcertified CAPaccredited laboratory
At least two years of experience performing PK analyses with relevant PK software. Required skills also include familiarity with MS Office software and Adobe software for handling assay and clinical reports and communications software such as Zoom and Teams.
