Job Description Summary

Role Summary/Purpose

TSD tools and method is a critical domain for Aerospace. TSD tools framework is equipped with stateoftheart numerical techniques and methods that provides competitive edge for performing thermal analysis. NGT/FS is one such platform which TSD tools team developed it for GE businesses. NGT/FS platform is an integrated framework that has a customized thermal solver with customized GUI (Graphical User Interface) used by GE engineers for conducting mixed fidelity simulations that includes integrated Flow Heat transfer and Mechanical analyses.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong numerical background to join our team for the NGT/FS platform. As a Lead Engineer TSD Tools and Method engineer will be responsible for enhancing thermal capabilities in NGT/FS Platform as per business need Work with CTH to create & execute strategic items on stateoftheart tools/methods which provides competitive edge for completing thermal analysis. You will play a pivotal role in developing maintaining and enhancing our thermal tools and numerical modeling workflow. This role demands NGT/FS code base deployment testing and detailed validation before newer NGT/FS releases to 100 users. The tool owner must actively interact with all thermal engineers to understand the ask and must follow LEAN approach to eliminate waste as per business need. In addition to the above this role demands strong collaboration with thermal users to empowering them in resolving issues/challenge faced while using thermal tools.

Established in 2000 the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies advanced materials and additive manufacturing.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Gathering thermal enhancement requests from thermal users and translating those in to first principlesbased equations and solving them through inhouse solvers.
  • Implementing thermal enhancement in NGT/FS solver while ensuing desired connectivity between interfacing tools/methods such as Mechanical solver and Flow Solver etc.
  • Stay up to date on the latest advancements in ANSYS core developments relative to thermal simulation technologies and identify opportunities to further optimize our solution processes.
  • Creating user interface (UI) specifications in accordance with enhancement request.
  • Empowering thermal users while addressing: 1. Bug/Issues reported by users2. Issues faced while using thermal tools 3. Automation requests 4. New technology integration requests.
  • Meeting delivery schedule adhering to processes followed within GE.
  • Following details SDLC process for NGT/FS release (Code update Integration Compilation Testing Validation TG review and Release)
  • Working on strategic POCs targeted as enhancing tools state considering latest industry trend relative to thermal tools. Actively contributing to Design Board or Tech Community while representing TSD tools team in those forums

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD/Post Graduate degree from an accredited university with focus in ingestion CFD and heat transfer

  • Minimum of five years of experience with industry in ingestion CFD and heat transfer

  • Good understanding of fluid dynamics thermodynamics CFD heat transfer and particle transport modeling & associated physics

  • Skilled in programming languages like Fortran C/C Python and ability to write/debug basic code functionalities

  • Demonstrated analytical and problemsolving skills.

Desired Characteristics

  • CFD and thermal code development background

  • Strong familiarity with ANSYS CFX or FLUENT with experience in creating user defined functions

  • Familiarity with meshing tools like ICEMCFD FLUENT MESHER.

  • Familiarity with FENSAP ICE and ANSYS Fluent for particle trajectory and icing analysis

  • Familiarity with ANSYS Workbench for Multiphysics Simulation (Mechanical Thermal and Structural)

  • Flexible to adopt work as per business needs and priorities

  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate tasks involving global team members

  • Strong crossfunctional teaming communication and presentation skills.

  • Humble: respectful receptive agile eager to learn
