Job Description
Successful law firm seeks an attorney to defend General Liability cases to join our Overland Park KS to be commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions:
Gathering and reviewing medical evidence and medical records.
Taking depositions of Plaintiffs physicians medical experts and other parties.
Conducting discovery.
Performing legal research.
Remaining current with developments in the law. Drafting pleadings motions briefs opinions and other legal documents.
Litigating cases in Circuit Courts in Missouri District Courts in Kansas and Federal Courts.
Represent the interests of clients at hearings trials depositions oral arguments mediations arbitrations and other proceedings.
Communicate with claims representatives.
Monitor loss run reports for trends and increases and alerts management to concerns.
Assist with the investigation of accidents.
Manage costs to reduce liability.
Compile and submit reports required by company management.
Coordinate and attend claims reviews.
Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insured.
Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Education Skills and Qualifications:
J.D. and proof of admission to the Kansas and Missouri bar.
Candidates with an UBE score of 266 or higher from another state will be considered.
Proven track record of 2 years of experience general liability and civil claims defense.
Working knowledge of legalprinciples and practices.
In depth knowledge of local state and federal laws and regulations.
Thorough knowledge of legal research techniques and legal terminology.
Microsoft Word experience required; Perfect Law legal software experience preferred.
Firm and client confidentiality required.
